Easter Holiday Activity in Ayrshire for Children

Bring the kids to Alloway Tunnel this Easter to do a fun Scavenger Hunt around our amazing 300m mural!

Kids love our mural! They love exploring the different scenes and finding magical creatures. Each time they come back they discover something new as well as returning to old favourites. There are scary monsters, witches, warlocks and dragons mixed with enchanting fairies, animals, and beautiful mythical creatures. It’s also educational, and children will have fun learning about Ayrshire history through the short films placed throughout the mural and accessed by QR codes.

Can you spot Pirate Puffin in the mural?

Parents and grandparents also love exploring our mural because of it’s stunning artwork and engaging films. It's open every day, 24/7 and it’s free to visit. It’s close to other superb visitor attractions in Alloway such as the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum and playpark, Rozelle and Bellise Parks and of course Greenan Castle and shore. It’s a great day out!

You can find us opposite the Burns Birthplace Museum on Murdochs Lone, KA7 4PQ in Alloway – just follow the signs from the museum, it’s a 5 min walk. If you use ‘What 3 Words’ you can find us at minds.forces.clocks.

Mural Scavenger Hunt is available in our Alloway Railway Tunnel Website shop. It’s £5 and you will receive an instant digital download of a PDF file so you can print off as many copies as you want at home or just use on your phone.

With the weather forecast looking wet over the Easter holidays, the mural is a great space to visit as obviously it’s underground so you can visit whatever the weather brings.

We’ve tested out the Scavenger Hunt with local children and the Alloway Brownies who were doing their folklore badge, and the feedback has been tremendous! It’s also a great fun team activity to do with a group and if you are a community group leader and would like to arrange a guided tour and a Scavenger Hunt at any point in the year, please get in touch with us to discuss a visit. info@allowaytunnel.org.uk
